Important: Please read these Terms and the linked policies before creating an account or participating in an event. Certain features and dispute remedies described below may require administrator assistance rather than being available through the website.
1. Agreement and scope
These Terms govern the Aether League website, accounts, tournaments, forums, community features, and desktop Competition Client. The Privacy Policy, Competition & Community Rules, Competition Client Terms, and any published event-specific rules also apply. If a specific event rule conflicts with a general competition procedure, the event rule controls for that event, subject to applicable law and these Terms.
2. Eligibility and parental involvement
You must be at least 13 years old and meet any higher minimum age or consent requirement applicable where you live or imposed by a supported game or particular event. Users under the age of legal majority must obtain required parent or guardian permission. Some events, prizes, or regions may have additional eligibility restrictions. Aether may request reasonable verification and deny ineligible entries.
3. Account registration and security
Provide accurate information, protect account credentials, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for actions through your account to the extent permitted by law. Do not impersonate others, sell or transfer accounts without authorization, create accounts to circumvent restrictions, or use another person's game identity.
4. Teams, captains, and rosters
Team owners, managers, and captains are responsible for invitations, roster accuracy, eligibility, and team decisions made with their permissions. Roster locks, substitutions, ownership changes, and transfers are subject to event rules and available Aether tools. Aether may freeze or correct a roster or team record while investigating a credible dispute.
5. Registration and event entry
Registration is not guaranteed merely because a team appears eligible on a page. Entry may depend on capacity, roster validity, game identity, region, deadlines, division, and verification. Duplicate or fraudulent registrations may be removed. Event-specific instructions should be reviewed before entering.
6. Scheduling, attendance, and forfeits
Participants should use designated scheduling channels, respond reasonably to match coordination, and attend agreed times. Published event rules may specify grace periods, no-show treatment, rescheduling, and forfeits. Aether may adjust schedules when necessary for safety, fairness, technical issues, or event administration.
7. Fair play and prohibited behavior
Cheating, unauthorized assistance, collusion, match fixing, account sharing, smurfing intended to defeat eligibility rules, exploiting vulnerabilities, falsifying results, forging evidence, and tampering with telemetry are prohibited. Players must comply with supported game publishers' terms and anti-cheat rules.
8. Match reports and official results
Submit only truthful match reports and confirm only results you believe are accurate. Telemetry, screenshots, replays, and participant statements may inform review but are not automatically conclusive. Aether's published official result may differ from a raw game or client record after an authorized review.
9. Disputes, corrections, and bracket integrity
A participant who believes a report is incorrect should use available dispute or support channels promptly and provide relevant evidence. Administrators may investigate, request information, reject or supersede a report, reset a match, order a replay, assign a forfeit, or recompute affected bracket advancement when supported by the platform and warranted by the rules. These remedies describe administrative authority; not every action is currently available as a self-service feature.
10. Decisions and appeals
Administrators should act consistently, in good faith, and avoid material conflicts of interest where practical. You may request reconsideration through the published support channel, identifying the event, decision, and supporting facts. Aether may decline repetitive or abusive requests. Unless applicable law or specific event rules require otherwise, a decision may remain effective while a review is pending.
11. Community conduct and moderation
Do not threaten, stalk, harass, dox, discriminate against, sexually harass, spam, defraud, or deliberately disrupt other users. Profanity filtering is one moderation measure and does not make otherwise abusive conduct acceptable. Aether may remove content, restrict communication, or take account and competition action proportionate to the circumstances.
12. Enforcement and investigations
Depending on severity, evidence, and history, Aether may warn, restrict features, remove content, suspend participation, disqualify a team, invalidate results, or suspend or terminate accounts. Immediate temporary restrictions may be used to address credible security or safety risks. Aether may preserve relevant evidence as described in the Privacy Policy.
13. User submissions and content rights
You retain ownership of content you lawfully submit. You grant Aether a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, display, distribute, adapt for formatting, moderate, and use submitted content as reasonably necessary to operate, document, and promote Aether competitions. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit it. This license ends when content is removed except for lawful backups, previously distributed materials, and necessary competition or legal records.
14. Aether intellectual property
Aether names, branding, interface designs, software, and original materials are owned by their respective rights holders. These Terms grant a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service as intended, not ownership of its software or marks. Do not copy, redistribute, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit protected components except where applicable law expressly permits.
15. Broadcasts, recordings, and publicity
Competitive matches, public profiles, team names, results, and publicly submitted competition content may appear in Aether event coverage, broadcasts, highlights, standings, or promotional materials, subject to applicable law and event notices. Private personal information is not licensed for public disclosure by this section. Additional consent or special rules may apply to minors and prize events.
16. Competition Client and telemetry
The optional Competition Client may process locally available game state and match statistics, retain local history, and transmit authorized competition information as explained in the Competition Client Terms and Privacy Policy. It is not guaranteed to detect every match and is not represented as anti-cheat software. You must not forge or manipulate reported data. Closing or uninstalling the Client may affect optional functionality or event-specific verification requirements.
17. Third-party games and integrations
Supported games, Discord, identity providers, and other external services are governed by their own terms. Unless expressly stated, Aether is independent of and not sponsored or endorsed by game publishers. Their trademarks remain their property. An integration may change or stop when a publisher's rules, technical access, or security requirements change.
18. Prizes, payments, and taxes
Unless an event expressly publishes prize terms, participation does not create a right to a prize, payment, or reimbursement. If Aether introduces paid entries, purchases, or prizes, applicable event or purchase terms must state eligibility, amounts, fulfillment, cancellations, refunds, and any taxes before payment or entry. Participants are responsible for tax obligations imposed by law. No general paid-entry or prize program is promised by these Terms.
19. Event changes and technical interruptions
Aether may postpone, reschedule, modify, suspend, or cancel an event for technical failure, insufficient participation, suspected misconduct, publisher requirements, safety, or other reasonable operational reasons. Where practical, affected participants will receive notice and an explanation. Any refunds or remedies for paid activities will follow applicable law and the specific purchase or event terms.
20. Service availability and beta features
Aether may offer experimental, alpha, or beta features that are incomplete or subject to change. The service and telemetry are provided on an as-is and as-available basis to the extent permitted by law. Maintenance, outages, data errors, and interruptions can occur. Keep independent copies of evidence you may need for disputes.
21. Privacy, retention, and account closure
The Privacy Policy describes collection, processing, sharing, and retention of personal data. You may stop using the service and request account or data actions through published support channels. Certain security, legal, moderation, and competition-integrity records may be retained where permitted or required by law.
22. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Aether disclaims implied warranties and does not guarantee uninterrupted access, particular competitive outcomes, or error-free reporting. To the extent permitted by law, Aether and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the service. Nothing excludes statutory rights, liability for fraud or intentional misconduct, or other liability that cannot lawfully be limited. No fixed monetary liability cap is established by this draft.
23. Changes to terms
Aether may revise these Terms to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational changes. The updated date identifies the published revision. For material changes, Aether should provide reasonable notice and, where required, obtain affirmative renewed acceptance before applying revised terms. Continued use alone will not substitute for consent where law requires affirmative agreement.
24. Legal framework and severability
Applicable consumer-protection and other mandatory laws remain in effect. These Terms do not impose a mandatory arbitration clause, class-action waiver, or selected governing-law jurisdiction. Those provisions require identification of Aether's legal operator and jurisdiction and legal review before inclusion. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective to the extent permitted by law.
25. Contact and operator information
For legal, moderation, privacy, or competition concerns, use the support channel published on Aether League. Aether should publish its legal operator name, business contact details, and a verified support address before public launch. Do not rely on an unpublished mailbox for time-sensitive legal notices.
